Pocket Frogs includes 36,800 different breeds that the player can collect, breed, and share.

Genetic AttributesEdit

Each breed is determined by three genetic attributes: Base Color, Pattern or Secondary Color, and Patterns. The name of each frog is given by the names of the attributes of the particular frog, e.g. Green Viola Marmorea. The first word refers to the base color, which is usually in English, the second word refers to the pattern color, which is usually in Latin, and the last word in the name refers to the pattern of the frog. Pattern names have many origins.

All base and pattern colors are available to players of all levels, but patterns are unlocked when users reach a certain level, effectively limiting all breeds with that pattern by level. Although the distinction makes no difference in gameplay, frog patterns for levels 1—4 are Common, 5—8 are Rare, 9—12 are Endangered and 13—32 are Legendary.

Normally, breeding two frogs together has a possible outcome of every possible combination of base color, pattern color and pattern from the two parent frogs, however there are a number of breeding anomalies, such as Glass or Chroma.

There are currently 23 base colors, 16 pattern colors and 100 patterns.

Promotional FrogsEdit

Limited edition frogs were originally only released by developers at a given time. Beginning with the Version 1.1.1 update, promotional frogs can be purchased in the FrogMart for 25 potions.

The ten new patterns added in update (v1.2) are: Geminus, Bulla, Orbis, Obaro, Persona, Vinaceus, Gyrus, Trivium, Bulbus, and Signum.

All of the new breeds (level 17 and up) can be found in giftboxes in the pond or after you complete the puzzle. None of them are promotional, being that they can only be obtained in the FrogMart for 25 potions. If you want a specific breed, you can race with a breed that is of the same level as the one you want. When you win and the breed you want was also in the race you can choose it and it will be put in your mailbox.
